Florida Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues racked up a pair of goals, and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was sensational in net yet again in a 4-1 win in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. As a result, Florida now holds a 2-0 lead as the series shifts to Edmonton for Games 3 and 4.

The Panthers spent the entire night producing more offense up and down the ice, and outshot their counterparts by a wide margin. After tallying just 18 shots on goal in Game 1, Florida received terrific offensive output and suffocated the Oilers on the defensive end. Rodrigues was able to snap a shot past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner early in the third period. He also found the back of the net off of a pass from Anton Lundell that effectively put the game out of reach.

Bobrovsky is making his claim for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL’s playoff MVP as he’s allowed just one goal in the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers goaltender made 18 saves Monday night, and has now yielded two or fewer goals in each of his last five games, dating back to the Eastern Conference Final against the New York Rangers. Despite Oilers star Connor McDavid manufacturing several scoring chances, Bobrovsky was up to the challenge throughout the night.

The Stanley Cup Final will resume on Thursday evening in Edmonton where the Oilers will attempt to climb their way back into the series. One place they’ll need to look if they’re to turn things around is converting on their power-play opportunities. Edmonton is 0 for 7 on the man advantage thus in the series, including going 0 for 4 in Game 2.
