The New York Rangers have announced that forward Jonny Brodzinski has signed a two-year contract extension with the team. The deal will keep Brodzinski in New York through the 2023-24 season.
Brodzinski, 28, joined the Rangers organization last season after signing as a free agent in October 2020. He made his Rangers debut in January 2021 and quickly became a valuable depth player for the team. In 13 games with the Rangers last season, Brodzinski recorded two goals and one assist.
Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury expressed his excitement about Brodzinski’s contract extension, stating, “Jonny is a hard-working player who brings energy and versatility to our lineup. We are pleased to have him back with the team for the next two seasons.”
Brodzinski, a native of Ham Lake, Minnesota, was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft. He spent four seasons in the Kings organization before joining the Rangers.
In addition to his time in the NHL, Brodzinski has also played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Ontario Reign and the Hartford Wolf Pack. He has proven to be a reliable scorer at the AHL level, tallying 119 points in 181 career games.
With his contract extension, Brodzinski will have the opportunity to continue making an impact for the Rangers both on and off the ice. His work ethic and versatility make him a valuable asset to the team, and fans can look forward to seeing more of his contributions in the seasons to come.
